“The 5th Wave” by Rick Yancey

5th wave

Cassie is a heavily armed 16-year-old, hiding out in the woods, scared out of her mind after losing most of her family to an alien invasion. Flash back to Cassie, who just a short time ago was sitting in class ignoring her teacher and texting her best friend, sitting behind her secret crush, Ben Parish, when the lights go out. The only thing she’s sure of is that she can’t trust anyone. These aren’t the “Take me to your leader” friendly-type aliens who want to welcome us into some intergalactic federation. She doesn’t know what they look like, what they want, or where they’ll strike next.

I read this at the dinner table, in the tub, late into the night–I had to find out what the next wave was, when it was going to hit, and who exactly were the bad guys? I loved the plot twists, the heart-stopping escapes, a little romance here and there, and, yup–loose ends. Hope Yancey doesn’t take too long to get that sequel (surely there’ll be a sequel!!) out.

Check this book out or put it on hold.
